The Mentor Coach is an expert who accompanies other coaches to acquire or enhance the necessary coaching skills and attain and show the levels of coaching competencies as required by thevarious credentials under ICF: ACC, PCC and MCC 

The mentor coach works with the coach-mentees by providing competency level feedback, passing on knowledge and providing guidance on what they need to do to raise their level of excellence in demonstrating a certain competency, in line with the credential level they seek mentoring for.

Who is the target audience?

  • Coaches who wish to develop their activity as mentors in the field of coaching. Students must hold the ICF ACC certification or have sufficient hours to qualify for it.
  • Teachers and mentors from coaching schools to develop new skills to improve student learning.

In general, all those who are detecting the need to acquire new knowledge and experience in order to work more effectively in the field of coaching.

Career opportunities

The mentor coach may find career opportunities, at least, in the following four areas: 

  • Mentoring coaches wanting to apply or renew an ICF credential, hence need to work with a mentor coach prior to submitting their application. 
  • Working together with coaches who have not completed an ICF-approved program, and initiate the process via Portfolio with the ICF, in order to achieve the credentials. ACC or PCC. 
  • Accompanying coaches looking to further train their coaching competencies, regardless of their certification. 
  • Collaborate withCoaching schools offering Level 1 or Level 2 programmes. Mentor Coaching is a mandatory part of the program, as ten hours of mentoring by a mentor coach is required. 

Goals

The aim of this program is to train participants to offer Mentor Coaching services so that by program end they may:

  • Have a deepen understanding of ICF core competencies and their associated behaviors.
  • Detect, as observing a coaching session, what competencies are being showed and which are missing. Also, identify the level of credential displayed by the coach.
  • Provide feedback and tools to the coach to support improvement towards the desired credential level.
  • Improve their own coaching abilities through their own mentoring process.

Methodology

The program offers an extensive set of knowledge, concepts, tools, all of which will be enriched with PRACTICE and EXPERIENCE, respecting each coaching style, favoring COLLECTIVE LEARNING to create a SAFE space and growing out of DIVERSITY.

Syllabus

Training sessions 1 to 4

Discuss and train ICF competencies and markers, as well as mentor coach's own competencies. Theory-based practices to learn identify specifics of each competency in the doing of a coach.

Training sessions 4 to 10

Group workshops based on practical Mentor Coach sessions. Mentor practices start within participants. A second stage is to be practiced with guests, certified coaches who wish to be mentored to improve their coaching competences.

Training sessions 11 and 12

Consolidation of learning, completion of the practical exam and subsequent analysis of the exam, conclusions and closure of the program.  

In addition, participants will work privately in small cohorts throughout the program.

Qualification

At the end of the program and once all the requirements have been met, participants will be honored with an EEC Mentor Coach diploma. Accredited by ICF as coaching continued education (CCE).

54 hours, which will take place in live streaming and will have the following structure:

  • 39 hours in synchronous classroom
  • 2 group meetings of 2,5 hours (5 hours)
  • Writing session reports (8 hours)
  • Preparation of a report on doubts and learning (2 hours)

  • Participants must hold the ICF ACC certification or have sufficient hours to qualify for it.
