Updating competencies: the impact on your practice

In September 2025, the International Coaching Federation (ICF) published an update of its competency model, the result of a comprehensive review process, developed over 14 months, to understand the evolution of practice since 2019.

This review looked at changes in the knowledge, skills and abilities required in today's professional practice.

The model was refocused without incorporating new core competencies, although five new indicators were added and eleven existing indicators were updated.
