For the second consecutive year, Escuela Europea de Coaching is collaborating with the A LA PAR Foundation to develop the employability of young people with intellectual disabilities. An initiative that involves incorporating young trainees into internships and which, in the words of its protagonists, has been "totally satisfactory".
In recent months, Escuela Europea de Coaching has opened its doors to one of the students of the Administration module of the CAMPVS advanced training of the A LA PAR foundation. David Gálvez has been collaborating in person in Madrid and also remotely from his home, due to the pandemic, with Alfonso Tena, the person in charge of mentoring David during this experience at Escuela Europea de Coaching.
After the collaboration, Mercedes Cisneros, financial director at EEC and coordinator of the project with the A LA PAR Foundation, comments that after David's time at EEC, "the feeling remains of being able to meet people with different abilities and see how they face numerous situations with a lot of courage. That you have to be brave and take risks is the learning that stays with us now".
For David, whose time at EEC was his first contact with the world of work, the experience was "just what I was looking for. I wanted a company with a good atmosphere, where I could get on well with my colleagues, where the atmosphere wasn't cold and where it wasn't just about working". For his future career he aspires "to work in more companies with an atmosphere like this" now that he knows "what it is like to work in a company" and what it feels like "when you help as if you were one of the team when your colleagues are asking you for things. I didn't know that and I've learned it here: dealing with colleagues and the team".
Regarding this collaboration with Fundación A LA PAR, Mercedes Cisneros confirms its continuity. "We are delighted to support this work, which is precious and which provides us with experiences with these young trainees and also to be able to do our bit to help these people integrate more easily and accessibly into the world of work. At EEC we care about people and we are going to be with people".
