EEC Alumni sponsors the presentation of 'Coaching Teams in Practice', by Luis Carchak

29 March 2021

Luis Carchak, MCC coach and director of the international team coaching programme at EEC, presented his book 'Coaching teams in practice. Artesanías de acompañamiento para facilitar cambios en equipos, empresas y sus líderes' in the EEC Alumni community of the Escuela Europea de Coaching, accompanied by essential people for the author and for the publication of the work.

The book, which addresses the practices that allow the coach to dance to make a team more cohesive, intelligent and effective, has been presented in a live online conference by Luis Carchak together with Laura Madrigal, editorial manager of LID; the coach and consultant Juan Vera, expert in Politics and personal friend of Luis, who has accompanied him in this adventure; Javier Cremades, President of Cremades & Calvo-Sotelo and President of the World Association of Jurists, who has also collaborated as author of the foreword; and Silvia Guarnieri, founding partner of EEC, Luis' wife, and moderator of the conference.

More than 150 attendees at the live activity, held on 25 March, were able to listen to Juan Vera highlight Luis' "generative insolence because it invites you to create" as well as "his militant tenderness" and "his craftsmanship in caring for his friendship". Laura Madrigal, manager at LID, highlighted the quality of the texts "elaborated with the same artistry with which Luis explains his work with the teams" as well as the practical value and the learning that each reader can take away from each of the 17 chapters.

"I have not bought a book", Javier Cremades emphasised, "I have bought 100 books because I want my team to have it dedicated to them and to have all the experiences collected". In fact, it is his team that is the protagonist of certain examples in which the author recounts the practice of team coaching: "My office has been impregnated with what Luis is and what he tells us; we have understood what it means to be vulnerable, to live with what is different, to disagree while being united, to agree.... Luis is the fly that observes, he does not intervene, but he accompanies us to be better people. We have passion with a purpose and today we do our work better thanks to Luis' accompaniment", the lawyer pointed out.

Finally, Luis Carchak took the floor to thank his colleagues and to explain the process and the articulation of the work. Thus, the team expert began by assuring that "writing a book does not have to be a solitary thing, it is a team effort".

The author also addressed the nature of his craft: "to humbly accompany people who know their business but were not trained to talk, to show angles that they don't see and, with a minimum of intrusiveness and subtlety, to be able to show the team that there may be something they are not seeing and they are not guilty of that. [...] Craftsmanship is that the team has its own wisdom and that smart people don't make a smart team, a smart team makes its members smart".
