  • Title of the book: 'How to learn from your child's disability. Coaching for parents of children with special needs'.
  • Author: Gonzalo Bermejo

  1. What did you find the book useful and what did you like the most?

On the one hand, to think about everything I have experienced as a parent of a child with a disability, to be aware of what I have done well and above all what I could have done better, to learn lessons, etc... And on the other hand, to put myself in the place of other parents who are in a similar situation in order to try to help them.

The most positive thing is undoubtedly the feedback I receive from the people who have read it, how much they identify with what I have written.

  1. What learnings from the book relate most to the way you experience coaching?

More than my way of living coaching, I would say that coaching is part of my life. In other words, I have managed to incorporate the concepts/distinctions of coaching that I explain in the book into my daily life in a natural way.

  1. Any moments of insight during your reading?

As I mentioned before, during the writing of the book, I have been able to review my role as an 'atypical' parent, which has allowed me to become more aware of my strengths and weaknesses.

  1. What tools from the book can be used in a coaching process?

Really all of them. Although I obviously focus my coaching tips, concepts and disciplines on the world of disability, they can be applied to almost any coaching process.

  1. At what point in the learning process as coaches might it be advisable to read it?

I think it can be positive during the certification as a Coach, as it would help to better understand these distinctions, with concrete examples, but also later on, as a Certified Coach, as it can bring a new vision of the application of coaching.
