Aims, actions and wishes in celebration of 20 years of EEC in February

20 February 2023

The importance of finding one's purpose in life and how this can be a source of motivation and meaning even in the work environment was the focus of the online lecture led by Fernando Vargas as part of the monthly cycle "The 20 Year Windows", with which Escuela Europea de Coaching is celebrating its 20th anniversary.

The well-known "New Year's resolutions" were one of the first aspects addressed, about which the speaker was able to ask the audience directly through the use of digital tools. "If you didn't keep them, you probably lacked action", explained the coach in the light of the live survey carried out among the attendees, according to whom, it is the lack of action and the lack of a deep sense that prevents these challenges from being met.

To find the meaning of our purposes, continued the EEC Consultancy Project Director, "it is necessary to ask ourselves deep questions" and to reflect on two essential aspects: what we want to achieve and what we are willing to do to achieve it.

Questions and axes to define the purpose

Among the questions offered by Fernando Vargas were not only the techniques he usually uses in workshops with professional teams within EEC Consultancy, but also what he uses with his own children when they are assessing a complex decision.

These questions include aspects such as the objectivity of the objective, the need to achieve it, the right moment, the real desire to achieve it, the personal transformations that would be achieved by achieving it, the learning that is needed, the support that you will generate and the preparation to face the difficulties that you will encounter.

In addition to these techniques to give meaning to purpose, the expert explained, it is a universal human quest to find one's purpose in life. It involves identifying what we are passionate about, what we are good at, what we can bring to others to satisfy their needs and how to make it sustainable in order to achieve balance in our lives.

The company, the scene of vital purposes

"The challenge today is to turn organisations into spaces where people can design and find their vital purpose", declared Fernando Vargas before concluding, alluding to that facet of companies being able to embrace the raison d'être of the people who make up the company. People who find in the exercise of their daily lives a way to realise their vital purpose, identify with their company's project and develop as professionals and as people. This is a challenge for today's leadership.

As a final note in February's presentation in this cycle of EEC Windows, Fernando Vargas reviewed, based on Simon Sinek's Golden Circle, the ultimate raison d'être of the Escuela Europea de Coaching: to ensure that everyone who comes into contact with any of us who make up the EEC ecosystem is able to broaden their awareness and expand their future.
