Laura Portolés | EEC Alumni Protagonist | October 2026

«Listening fills your soul and every silence is not emptiness; it is an opportunity.»
I define myself as a constant, fighting, empathetic person, addicted to dancing and talking. I am happy to develop my professional career with, for, and by the people.
How did you get into coaching in general? And how did you get into EEC in particular?
By a nice coincidence, I received an email from the EEC; I did the First Cycle and my life began to change, while my perspective also changed.
What is your passion?
I have several passions. One of them is dancing, flowing with my partner in a conversation without words. Another is listening and flowing through the silences. The other passion is the people around me, being with them.
How do you charge your batteries? What gives you energy?
Practicing sports, dancing, having a coffee and having a conversation with someone I like, traveling, reading, learning.
What takes it away from you? How do you deal with it?
High workloads or when I feel like I can’t do everything I had committed to usually take a toll on my energy. In those cases, I force myself to stop and listen to my body; and I follow its instructions.
What news would you like to hear?
I would like to hear that all my loved ones will have good health in 2026.
Complete the sentence: Through coaching I learned...
Looking at each and every person in a different way. Including me.
Which of the coaching distinctions do you choose? Why and what for?
I stick with being/being a victim/being responsible.
I use them a lot in my daily life, because we're not always in the same state of mind or feeling.
And what do we choose, to be on the victim side or to take charge?
What impact has what you have learned in coaching had on your personal and professional life?
The impact was directly that it changed the way I faced every day; I learned to set boundaries, to listen, to choose and look at things in a different way, to accompany, to ask questions, to reflect. To see the other as a perfect being, and to empathize.
How and with whom do you currently apply coaching?
I apply it at a corporate level. We are more than 2,500 employees in my company currently and I have the opportunity to carry out internal processes.
What would you say to someone considering training in coaching?
That you have no doubts about it.
What has been your greatest achievement?
Learning every day that listening fills your soul and that every silence is not emptiness is an opportunity.
What is your biggest challenge?
Continue learning every day with the same enthusiasm as now.
What mistake have you learned the most from?
To make hasty decisions.
Complete the sentence: I would like to...
Continue to grow as a coach.
Complete the sentence: I never thought that...
I would be able to have a life as full as the one I currently live.
What is success for you?
Being able to manage every day, adapting to the circumstances. Being consistent and consistent.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Thanks to all the teachers at the EEC who have taught me so much and I hope they will continue to do so.
What are you reading? What book is on your bedside table?
Revenge, By Carme Chaparro.
Which coaching or development book would you recommend?
No doubt about it, Ontology of Language, By Rafael Echeverría.
What is your song of the moment?
It's a bachata from Romeo Santos' new album: Better late than never.
