EEC Alumni presents a new book on relationships with teenage children

5 October 2023

EEC Alumni has celebrated with great enthusiasm among its learning community a virtual meeting for the presentation of the book "Adolescence is coming to the family, are you ready?" by Àngels García Mata, certified coach in EEC and in the Specialisation in Adolescents and Families.

At the event, the author talked to Rosa Barriuso, MCC coach, EEC facilitator and director of the programme on families and adolescenceThe exhibition, which is about the transitional period of adolescence and how it "triggers a series of changes not only in its protagonists but also in the family dynamics".

During the presentation, the experts discussed education, responsibility, flexibility and limits which, unlike rules, should be approached from a point of view of mutual respect and not as a control mechanism. They also stressed that it is essential for parents to adapt and learn from their children, seeing them not only as young people in training, but as individuals who reflect, as mirrors, aspects of their own caregivers.

"The relationship between parents and children is a two-way street, where both learn and grow together, and it is important to thank and value children for the lessons they teach us", said Ángels García about the concept of "master child" proposed by Rosa Barriuso.
