Diversity, different paths and shared values, the secret of EEC's partners

23rd January 2023

The founding partners of EEC take a look back at their relationship, their values and even their way of resolving conflicts during the opening of "The 20 Years Windows".

"Without saying that we are an example of anything, we would like to show where we have built from," said Silvia Guarnieri at the start of an online exhibition together with her partner of 20 years, Eva López-Acevedo Sanz.

Among the values that have been behind it all this time: care, diversity, trust, vision and purpose.

"Trust is an essential ingredient in our school and in our relationship. Mutual trust to generate the bond without which it is not possible for a future project to last over time", said Eva López-Acevedo, about the most renowned coaching school in Spain since 2003.

"Don't think we haven't failed in many projects, some of them lasted a month or six months. But we always had the confidence that by changing them, modifying them and even insisting at another time, we would find a way," said Silvia Guarnieri about confidence.

"We chose to rely on our resources, on our vision, on our capacities and on our complicity and complementarity", says Eva López-Acevedo, keys that "have allowed them to make progress and continue together" despite the fact that they are "radically different".

So much so, Silvia Guarnieri points out, that if they had not met while working, "we wouldn't even have looked at each other". And yet, says the Argentinian-born Master Coach, success is knowing that "sometimes we see our values represented in different options, in different actions".

Something that they resolve in a particular way: "going as many times around the block as it takes to reach an agreement", that is, walking until "really listening to what the other was trying to say and where it was pointing and, from there, finding the shared value and recognising that the only thing different was the path".

"Diversity is a value and a joy". They give to those who are thinking of starting a project: "be happy when the other person tells something different, be curious to see what they think and be an active listener" who understands that the other person is different, because that, moreover, "has the capacity to heal".

During the live online chat on Friday 20 January, the members also had a moment to acknowledge challenging moments such as their beginnings, the year of the pandemic, 2018 and how at all times they were guided by vision, purpose and care for themselves and the team, even overlooking the business outcome.

"20 years is a long time, but it has flown by," they concluded before congratulating those present and sharing that the cycle continues on the 20th of every month.
