The need for self-confidence and the need to have a purpose in life were the focus of the conference given by the coach Carmen Mellina, in La Ventana de los 20 años de abril, the space with which EEC celebrates its 20th anniversary every month online and free of charge.
During this workshop, attended by nearly 100 people, Carmen emphasised how, in general, people tend to give more value to what we lack instead of "recognising our strengths and what we can contribute" and she recovered the idea of looking at what already exists, what we already have in order to take care of our self-esteem.
She stressed the importance of self-knowledge and living consciously in order to strengthen our self-esteem. She also mentioned the importance of accepting oneself and building a self-concept of dignity through the feeling of being in the world.
Another of the points addressed in La Ventana de los 20 años de abril was the influence that the relationship we establish with the environment in which we live has on our emotional wellbeing. In this sense, the coach advised taking advantage of these moments in which we are aware of the things that irritate us in others to work on aspects of ourselves that we reject.
Finally, in her 20-minute presentation, Carmen Mellina referred to authors and experts such as Nathaniel Branden and Boris Cyrulnik as well as to the documentary Stutz made by the actor Johan Hill with his psychiatrist.
