There is something you don't learn by reading: the exact moment when a conversation changes. That instant when the coachee finds a new word for what is happening to him or her, breathes differently and, without a sound, a possibility appears that wasn't there before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That's what we experienced at the most recent edition of the EEC Alumni - Sessions Observed and Analysed<\/strong>. A meeting designed to train the professional gaze from a very specific place: observe an actual coaching session<\/strong> and then stop together to understand what sustains it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The session was moderated by Ruth Gavil\u00e1n<\/strong>, who opened the space with a clear and careful framing: confidentiality, respect and a shared purpose. We do not come here to \u201cvalue\u201d anyone. We come to learn: to listen more accurately, to recognise process decisions and to name what makes a conversation coaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Next,\u00a0Carmen Mellina<\/strong>\u00a0accompanied a volunteer coachee in a conversation in which nuances emerged that many participants could identify in their own daily lives, as well as distinctions such as protagonism or contribution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n After the actual session came one of the most valuable parts of the meeting: the collective analysis. With Ruth's guidance, the community pointed out concrete moments: how the focus is built, how the agreement is reviewed, how listening becomes active when it also attends to emotions and silences, and how it is accompanied so that learning is translated into a realistic step towards action (e.g. in a work meeting).<\/p>\n\n\n\n The feeling with which we closed was simple and powerful: when we observe carefully, we learn faster<\/strong>.
