But how do we know that what we want will actually happen?<\/p>\n<p>For the RAE, expectation is, precisely, \u00abhope of realising or achieving something\u00bb, \u00abreasonable possibility of something happening\u00bb, \u00abpossibility of obtaining a right, an inheritance, a job or something else, on the occurrence of an event that is foreseen\u00bb. And it defines \u00abin expectation\u00bb as \u00abnot acting or making a determination until we see what happens\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>To live thinking that our expectations \u00abhave\u00bb to materialise because it is the right thing to do, or because we deserve it, or because it has always been like that makes us remain in a state of waiting and permanent inaction.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #008b95;\">Expectation is an internal conversation<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Living in the world of expectations is accompanied by private conversations and internal dialogues.<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>(and unproductive)\u00a0<\/strong>in which we tell each other things like \u00abI don't need to tell you what I want, you already know, you've known me for years\u00bb or \u00abthe promotion is mine because I have more experience, everyone knows that\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p><strong>When the expectation is \u00absurprisingly\u00bb not fulfilled, suffering and resentment set in.<\/strong>We see ourselves as victims and do not take our share of responsibility for the event.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008b95; font-size: 18px; font-weight: bold;\">A question of commitment<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>The opposite of remaining in expectation is to dare to ask, to be vulnerable and to share out loud what we are in need of. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It would be, continuing with the previous example, asking the boss to consider us among the candidates for promotion or expressing to the partner what it is in particular that we expect from him\/her. It would be actively committing ourselves to what we want.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What are you waiting for to happen... magically?\u00a0<\/strong><strong>What could you do to help make it happen?
