The training consists mainly of controlling the power of the mind, or the power of the mind. the force. Among other things, Luke learns to move objects, such as stones of different sizes and weights.

When the training is not yet finished, Luke feels the need to leave the planet. Luke approaches the edge of the lake, reaches out his hand (as he has learned to do to move objects) and says: I'm going to try!

It is then that his teacher throws one of the most challenging phrases I have ever heard at him: do it or don't do it, but don't try it!

Luke can't hear the depth of those words and continues with his intention to pull the ship out but without the real strength and conviction to do so.

The result is not only that the ship does not emerge from the water, but also that its motivation and self-confidence are submerged under the weight of the complacency of that at least I have tried. When Luke is sure that it is impossible, the ship rises above the lake and slowly comes to rest on the shore, moved by Yoda's power. At that moment, Luke knows he must return to this planet, to finish his training and understand the true power of his mind (though that would be in the next chapter of the saga).

How often do we face actions without the necessary conviction to achieve them?
